A recall has been issued for the 2014 and 2015 Jeep Cherokees for water intrusion problems. The recall is currently limited to vehicles that are quipped with a power liftgate.
The issue was brought up when a Cherokee owner had said his SUV caught fire. Fiat Chrysler Automobiles has determined that the fire was likely the result of water intrusion, which short-circuited the power liftgate control module.
Currently, there are no accidents or injuries related to this issue.
Note: Owners of 2014 – 2015 Jeep Cherokees with power liftgates should monitor the SUV cargo area and keep it dry.
