I’m going to be honest here. The Jeep Wrangler is pretty near and dear to my heart. Living in a heavily populated city, rife with congestion and noise, the Wrangler allows me to stay connected to nature. To me, the Wrangler represents escape – something that’s increasingly hard to come by for a lot of us these days. Given my fondness for all things Jeep, it’s only natural that I dropped everything when I came upon the Filson Wrangler hiding on the internet – in spite of the long list of projects that await my attention.
Filson, a high-end outdoorsy apparel retailer based in the U.S., is also the unlikely seller of two extremely well-appointed Jeep Wranglers (including the previously mentioned Filson Edition AEV Wrangler) which can be yours, or mine, for the startlingly high base price of US$70,400. And if you think that’s a hefty price tag, you’ll be pleased to know that it’s actually a bargain next to Filson’s other offering: the AEV Brute Jeep Wrangler pickup – which retails for US$130,000.
So, what’s it got?
Lurking beneath its armoured forest green exterior you’ll find your choice of either a 5.7 or 6.4 HEMI V8 providing more than enough power for any adventure. Other standard appointments include AEV wheels, a 9,500lb. Warn winch (obviously), IPF 901 off-road lights, IPF backup light, BF Goodrich 35″ Mud-Terrain KM2 tires, AEV 3 – 1/2 DualSport SC suspension, AEV floor liners and much more.
The interior is equally mouth watering, as the cockpit features two tone branded leather seats and twill panels that successfully brings the feeling of the outdoors into the vehicle.
